Our story

Even though they lived most of their lives less than 3 blocks away from each other in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Mariana and Felipe only met in December 2015 at a party with a group of friends they had in common. They chatted for a bit and, after Mariana told Felipe all about the incredible person she is, he was hooked.

Mariana was already planning a move to another city one month after they met, but this did not keep them apart for too long and they decided to give the long distant relationship a try. A short 1-hour flight was easy enough to deal with and they did not stay away from each other for more than a week for that whole year.

When she came across an opportunity to pursue a clinical fellowship in Canada, Felipe was incredibly supportive and took advantage of the fact that his job allowed him to work remotely even before the pandemic to stay in Montreal with her for months at a time.

The proposal came on February 14th 2019 on a weekend ski trip after a romantic dinner and a few rounds of board games. A small civil wedding happened in Montreal and Felipe moved to the city to be with Mariana that same year.

The family got bigger in July 2019 with the arrival of Alfredo, half dog, half Tasmanian devil.

When the pandemic hit, in 2020, the plans for a big Brazilian ceremony were put on hold, but they never gave up on the dream of celebrating their union with their friends and family in beautiful Rio de Janeiro.

Still living in Canada, but now in Toronto, they look forward to what will certainly be a weekend to remember.
